Alus Aleppo soap is made from olive and laurel oil in varying percentages and is dried for at least 36 months, which gives it its characteristic color, an indicator of the product’s quality and authenticity.
Production begins every year in November, with the olive harvest and the production of the oil, which is cooked over a slow fire. Once cooking is complete, laurel oil is added in different percentages. Once solidified, the soap is cut into the characteristic blocks, which are then stamped and stacked to allow for drying.
The characteristic color is caused by the natural oxidation of the soap, which preserves its qualities and distinctive scent, making it a unique product in the world.
